Taranto, February 16, 2026 – Acciaierie d’Italia in E.A. and Confindustria Taranto announce that, today, a delegation of around 50 companies associated with Confindustria Taranto, led by President Salvatore Toma, accompanied by Vice President Michele De Pace and the President of the metalworking and shipbuilding section Pasquale Di Napoli, visited the Research and Development Center at the Acciaierie d’Italia in E.A. plant in Taranto.
The visit is part of a dialogue aimed at strengthening the steel industry's collaboration with the Apulian production fabric and connecting the needs of companies with the skills and potential of the Research and Development Center, with a view to establishing future collaborations and co-design projects, focusing on product and process innovation, energy efficiency and decarbonization, as well as circular economy projects and specific and specialized training.
Accompanied by some of the 24 researchers and laboratory technicians working at the Center, the companies visited the scientific laboratories and the advanced equipment and technologies operating there, which can support Apulian companies in the characterization, validation, and development of solutions, with a view to applied research and industrialization.
"Opening the Research and Development Center to dialogue with companies means creating the conditions to transform skills and infrastructure into real opportunities for collaboration and development in the Apulia region," said Maurizio Saitta, General Manager of Acciaierie d'Italia in E.A. "We want to encourage projects that combine innovation, competitiveness, and sustainability, with a pragmatic and results-oriented approach, promoting co-development paths with companies."
