Acciaierie d'Italia denies the news from a union source reported by some media since yesterday evening, according to which "another coil falling" occurred in the Cornigliano plant.
The coil concerned did not fall (nor had others fallen previously, as already specified on 12th December), but it was automatically placed on the fixed saddles as a result of the correct activation of a protection procedure, in a safe area in which operators access is not possible.
Furthermore, the published photograph does not represent the above event. The image refers to a normal procedure for evacuating a badly wrapped coil with a piece of steel sheet sticking out of the internal hole, dating back to the past.
It should also be noted that the time of publication of the articles in the online press is prior to the time of reporting the event by registered mail from the Union representatives to the Company. Therefore, this emergency was not a priority.
