Taranto, 15th May 2023 – Acciaierie d’Italia will host at its plant in Taranto from 15th to 19th May the XIV edition of Eurosteelmaster, one of the most important managerial training initiatives within the steel sector in Europe. The event changes its venues at every edition to involve representative plants of the sector.

The Master has been organized by RINA – a multinational body of inspection, certification and engineering consultancy – in collaboration with EUROFER – the European Steelmakers’ Association –, IndustriALL (European Trade Union Federation), ESTEP (European Steel Technology Platform), Federacciai and the European Commission.

In a context of rapid evolution which is involving the European steel sector in terms of competitiveness and sustainability and consequently in technological and market challenges, it is fundamental for the operators to be able to support their analytical and managerial expertise with a deep knowledge of the steel industry.

The Master will cover aspects related to public and industrial policies, as well as product and sustainability policies, with the objective to enable managers to develop their skills in order to contribute positively to the current developments of the steel industry.

The Master will be introduced by Pietro Gimondo, Head of Funded Research & Innovation of RINA, and will see the participation of the top management from the promoting organizations such as Axel Eggert, General Manager of EUROFER, and Klaus Peters, General Secretary of ESTEP. For Acciaierie d'Italia, Adolfo Buffo, General Manager of Quality-Research-Development & Sustainability will be the protagonist of the works.

Several qualified experts in the sector will also participate, such as Professor Dimitri Zurstrassen from the Louvain-la-Neuve and the Sorbonne Universities, Anthony De Carvalho from the OECD Steel Committee, Immavera Sardone and Alessandra Colli for the European Commission.

“We are particularly pleased to host and give our contribution to an initiative of this magnitude,” said Adolfo Buffo, Acciaierie d'Italia General Manager of Quality-Research-Development & Sustainability. “We are engaged in several training initiatives – from technical to managerial ones – because we think that the evolution of the steel sector needs advanced skills and new visions”.

“Since the steel industry is experiencing a rapid evolution with important objectives in terms of sustainability, it is necessary to continue developing skills, more and more using technological innovation and digitalization”, added Guido Chiappa, Executive Vice President of Materials, Technology & Innovation of RINA. “To allow management to shape and positively contribute to the ongoing changes, we train industry operators from an analytical point of view. We are honored to be able to work towards this goal together with Acciaierie d'Italia, and we strongly believe in the value of cooperation, especially when it is one of the most important players in the steel sector with whom we will have the mutual opportunity to incentivize, promote and support the exchange of know-how and expertise”.
