Taranto, 3rd February 2024 – Acciaierie d’Italia informs to have received a visit from the ILVA inspection team in AS yesterday, 2nd February 2024. Acciaierie d'Italia was represented by the Plant Manager and other managers. Both parties were accompanied by their respective legal advisors.
At the request of the Inspectors, the Company analytically gave an account of the layout of all the installations.
To some questions asked by the inspection team, relating to the running of the sintering lines and the coke oven batteries, the company representatives reserved the right to answer after the appropriate and necessary checks, also specifying, on the one hand, that the production data need be verified within the scope of an overall plant budget and that, on the other hand, the management of production levels is in any case the responsibility of the Board of Directors.
Given this feedback, the entire inspection team of ILVA in AS unilaterally decided to interrupt the inspection activity, despite having been invited to carry out the planned inspections of the installations and considering that, in any case, all the plants listed by the same ILVA in AS in the previous exchange before the inspection activities were available and therefore, this inspection activity could have been continued usefully.
Having noted the decision of ILVA in AS inspection team to be unwilling to continue with the inspection of the installations, the company asked to draw up the usual minutes of the meeting. The ILVA inspection team in AS remained firm in its intention not to proceed with the drafting of the minutes documenting the meeting as scheduled.
Acciaierie d'Italia nevertheless deemed it appropriate to send a formal invitation to ILVA inspection team in AS so that, by returning to the Taranto plant as soon as possible, the report relating to the activities carried out during the visit of 2nd February could be drawn up.
