Taranto, 9th January 2024 - With regard to press news relating to 2023 measurements from ARPA unit in Orsini street, Taranto Tamburi neighbourhood, Acciaierie d'Italia specifies that by using data from SMAW system, which is the only reference system to compare limits, an annual average of PM10 concentration below law limits is obtained. Besides, these measurements are affected by road construction sites going on for a long time near the unit concerned, as highlighted in a notice sent from the company to ARPA. Therefore, the measurements cannot be considered as compliant with current legislation, nor can they be used to assess compliance with regulatory limits as they are not linked to company activities only.
